Estranged - Multiplayer Maze Runner

Estranged is a multiplayer horror maze runner game that I have been working on at AIE (Academy of Interactive Entertainment). Two players spawn into the maze and engage in a game of tug-of-war to avoid being consumed by the creature that dwells within. Players traverse the maze searching for soul fragments to mask their presence. When the lights go out the creature pursues the player who has collected the fewest. The hunt is then on until the lights are restored and the creature must wait again for the cover of darkness. Each player is given several flares which can be used to temporarily ward off the creature.

Story

The Maze is the brain child of Dr Isabella Crane, created as a means of punishing the men who have wronged her. Throughout her childhood Isabella was the victim of heinous crimes. She found solace in the darkness. There she met a friend. Someone who claimed could help her be free of her demons. This friend killed her oppressive family and in exchange Isabella founded Project Cocytus. Two men enter into a shared reality through a hole torn in the fabric of their subconscious. As long as the victims are connected to Cocytus there is seemingly no escape. The creature is tied to the maze by Isabella's soul, and within it has found the perfect hunting ground.
